Commissioner Nelson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from CSUS and a Juris Doctorate from Lorenzo Patino School of Law. He is a California licensed contractor and owns his own business, Communications Technology Construction Company.
In addition, he and his wife are the owners and operators of the Elk Grove Montessori School. Previously, he worked for a local telephone company as a lineman/technician.
Commissioner Nelson is a Sacramento County District 5 appointee to the Sacramento County Civil Service Commission, beginning his first term on the Commission on November 9, 2005. He was recently reappointed on July 12, 2022 and his current term expires on June 30, 2027.
